An old 'wine-press' set amongst the Languedoc vineyards, close to the Mediterranean, Montpellier and Pezenas.Le Pressoir is an old wine press in a quiet setting amongst the Languedoc vineyards, which has been tastefully converted to provide comfortable accommodation for up to 4 people (plus a baby). It is situated approximately 30 metres from our own house within 2 acres of well-maintained and fully enclosed gardens. Le Pressoir is our only gite so you share the swimming pool and gardens with no other guests. Within the gardens are a fenced swimming pool (7 metres by 3.5 metres), and a children's play area with swings, slide and climbing frame. As well as full access to the gardens, Le Pressoir also has its own roof terrace from which you have stunning views of the surrounding countryside and nearby medieval village of St Pons de Mauchiens. In gardens there are trees providing shade, sun loungers, table and chairs and a barbeque. We can also provide baby equipment such as pushchairs, cots, highchairs etc at no charge. Accommodation comprises: ·A large living area with comfortable furnishings including sofa and easy chairs, coffee table, buffet unit, music center, TV and video. Leading off from this is ·Very well equipped kitchen/dining area with cooker, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave and large fridge freezer. ·Twin bedroom with large fitted wardrobe, chest of drawers, bed side cabinets and French doors leading out onto the patio area. ·Mezzanine bedroom (restricted head height) with double bed and furnishings. This is above the kitchen and overlooking the living area ·Shower room. With shower, sink and toilet There are shops, bars and restaurants two minutes drive away and supermarkets in nearby Pezenas (10 Minutes) and Beziers (25 Minutes). We are normally on hand to answer any questions and generally to make you welcome. Le Pressoir has maps, guidebooks and leaflets to guide you around the area. The Area We are perfectly placed for the Mediterranean; the nearest beaches can be reached in just 20 minutes. As well as beaches, there are beautiful lakes, mountains and gorges within one hours drive. The area has large numbers of medieval towns and villages to visit including Pezenas, St Guilhem-le-Desert and the Cite of Carcassonne. For the more adventurous the Spanish border can be reached in about 90 minutes and a further hour takes you to Barcelona. Pezenas; Just 10 minutes drive away is Pezenas a very pretty medieval town with an abundance of shops, cafes and restaurants. The centre is full of buildings dating back to the 16th & 17th centuries. There is also an excellent market on Saturday which provides an ideal opportunity to stock up on the wonderful regional delicacies, fresh salads and vegetables, meats, cheeses, seafood and of course the local wine. Take a stroll through the old town with its unique craft and clothes shops and finally stop at one (or two) of the many bars or bistros in the 'Place de 14th Juillet'. Cap d’Agde; 30 minutes drive from Pezenas is the holiday resort of Cap d'Agde. It has some 14 kilometres of fine beaches and many attractions for the children like 'Toonland' and the famous 'Aqua Park' with its giant flumes, water slides and wave machine as well as a super 'tots area' for the very young. There is also much to explore nearby. To the west, follow the Canal du Midi, which is classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, and visit the cities of Beziers and Narbonne Meze: Our gateway to the Mediterranean and only 20 minutes drive from Le Pressoir, Meze is a delightful little town with a wonderful harbour and lots of narrow winding streets. It is situated on the 'Bassin de Thau. There are small beaches to both sides of the harbour, which are clean, and the water is shallow, ideal for children. Take lunch at one of the many restaurants surrounding the harbour, where you will find some of the most wonderful seafood dishes. If you need to walk off your lunch then stroll up to the 15th century church or visit one of the many shops and stalls selling coquillage (shellfish), wine or clothes. Gorge d'Heric: Just one hour away, the Heric gorge is one of the most outstanding beauty spots in the Espinouse mountain range. The walls of the gorge are the finest rockfaces in the region and the area is popular with walkers and climbers. The paths and rockpools provide a wonderful venue for a days exploring and picnicking. The is a super little scenic road train that takes visitors on a picturesque route as far as the Gouffre du Cerisier when you can chose either the train to return or take a splendid walk back down past the rock pools and foaming waters of the Heric. Le Pressoir is situated just outside the beautiful medieval village of St Pons de Mauchiens. We are between Montpellier and Beziers about 10 miles from the Mediterranean.
