Resort: Historical, picturesque hamlet, 14 km south-east from Shannon, 20 km north-west from Limerick. For arrivals by plane: airport Shannon (SNN) 12 km. The resort is famous for its 15th century Castle and 19th century Folk Park. The Castle is the most complete and authentic medieval fortress in Ireland now containing mainly 15th and 16th century furnishings, tapestries and works of art and standing in delightful grounds. The houses and cottages of the folk park spread out at the foot of its massive walls with the walled garden, modelled on the original Regency period garden which supplied fruit, vegetables and flowers to the castle. Excellent base to discover the surrounding Shannon region.
