Once the residence of a noble Italian family this splendid villa set in its own private estate of olive groves directly opposite the sea offers privacy and tranquility with wonderful views across the entire bay and yet is within walking distance( 10-15 minutes walk) of the local village, shops, sandy beaches (5-10 minutes walk) and various amenities. The villa has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and sleeps 6/7 (+1 spare bed),and an annexe with bathroom with shower which sleeps 2 with separate entrance via courtyard and retains an air of grandure and charm with its fading facades, graceful arches, frescoed stairway and antique waterwell. Situated in the picturesque village of Santa Maria di Castellabate which in turn is located in the Parco Nazionale del Cilento a natural parkland reserve, this undiscovered and unspoilt area offers a combination of art, history, culture and recreation where tradition forms part of daily life.
Ground floor The ground floor has antique terracotta tiling and vaulted ceilings and consists of a spacious living room with an antique stone fireplace and adjoining dining area with large terrace windows which give onto the front patio courtyard ideal for outdoor dining. The kitchen in colourful vietri tiling consists of a gas cooker and oven, washing machine,fridge freezer table and seating area and leads out to the wild fruit orchard where one can collect the wonderfully fragrant oranges and lemons in season. Access to the upper floor is either via an internal spiral stairway(without handrail) or the main imposing outdoor stone frescoed stairway, which as with many older properties was the only access to the living quarters. There is also an annexe bedroom which sleeps 2 with bathroom with shower/basin/wc adjoining the house with private entrance via the courtyard.

Upper floor The upper floor consists of 3 light and airy bedrooms decorated in colourful mediterranean style with vietri tiled flooring , 2 bedrooms have a terrace and all enjoy wonderful views across the bay. There are 2 bathrooms, one with shower and one with bath and shower. The upper hallway is equipped with a ping pong table and leads out onto a terrace which runs along the length of the building and features an antique water well. The extensive views across the green olive trees and beyond to the azzure coloured seas add to the attractive features of this magical location and on a clear day one can see the Amalfi coast and the graceful silhouette of the island of Capri.

Santa Maria di Castellabate
The village of santa Maria di castellabate is siutated in the beautiful and unspoilt Cilento coastline which in turn lies in the Parco Nazionale del Cilento a national parkland reserve which stretches along the coast and inland to the hills of Vallo di Diano. Offering a wonderful combination of wide sandy bays, rocky coves , verdant hillside and natural flora and fauna. The many sandy beaches around Santa maria di Castellbate were recently awarded the 'bandiera blu' for their clean seas. The village of Santa maria runs parallel to the coast and offers a variety fo shops, bars and gelarerias whislt the area boasts a wide selection of good restaurants offering genuine local cuisine. The neighbouring village of San Marco with its picturesque port can be easily reached in a short bus/car drive.
The medieval village of Castellabate now under the patronage of the UNESCO can also be reached in a short bus/car drive and offers stunning views of the coast whilst one can expore it many hidden alleyways and marvel at its historic architecture.It is still an inhabited medieval village which has conserved many of its original features and boasts such personalities as Napoleon Bonaporte and Leon Cavallo as past guests. There are numerous restuarants in the area serving tradtional dishes with home-grown produce and local wine. There is a local Saturday market in Santa maria and various festivals

There are also numerous possibilites for excursions to the various places of interest - Pompeii, the Amalfi Coast- Amalfi, Ravello, Positano, Sorrento, the island of Capri, the greek temples of Paestum and Velia all being withing easy reach not to mention the local area where rugged stone farm houses dotted about the terraced olive groves and entire villages stand as living monuments to times gone by.
