Cabinas la Tranquilidad is beachfront on the Pacific Ocean. This vacation retreat is located on the small island of Palo Seco on the Central Pacific Coast between Jaco and Quepos/Manuel Antonio. Much of the time the only sounds at Cabinas la Tranquilidad are the ocean waves, the tropical birds singing, or the chirping of the tiny lizards. The fine sand, the calming surf, the gentle breezes, and the breathtaking sunrises and sunsets have created a tropical island paradise. It does not get any more tranquil than this.
Local Costa Rican families have always enjoyed Playa Palo Seco, but it is just beginning to be noticed by tourists on holiday, so there may be no one else on the wide volcanic black sand beach. The ocean has excellent surf. The beach is wonderful for shelling, sunbathing, taking a relaxing stroll, biking, fishing, swimming, or just chilling in a hammock. And do not forget to marvel at the magnificent sunrises and sunsets each day.
Isla Palo Seco is approximately two and a half hours from San Jose, 40 kilometers south of Jaco, and 22 kilometers north of Quepos. From the airport in San Jose, take the road to Jaco. Continue past Jaco through Parrita. Parrita is the closest town, about ten minutes from the island. After crossing the one lane bridge, turn right to Isla Palo Seco. Follow this road to a short bridge which is the entrance to the island. Turn left on the island road and go about 5 miles. There are mostly beach houses and private residences of native Costa Rican families on the island. There are two large hotels on the island and four restaurants and bars which service the local people and beach visitors.
Behind the narrow island is a wide estuary which flows in and out with the ocean tides. With the backdrop of huge mountains, this is a view to cherish. There is boat access to the estuary at the back of Cabinas la Tranquilidad. Snook and red snapper abound in the estuary waters. The ancient mangrove trees and coconut palms are homes for the many beautiful birds, iguanas, red crabs, squirrels, white-faced monkeys, and other island wildlife. Enjoy the quiet, relaxing character of Costa Rica's natural environment at Cabinas la Tranquilidad.
Cabinas la Tranquilidad is gated and surrounded by a white rail fence with green diamonds. The on-site caretaker and the night guard maintain the security of the property. Each cabina is a large hotel room with hot water shower in the private bath, tile flooring, air conditioning, ceiling fan, and covered tile porch with hammock. One cabina has 1 double bed. The other two cabinas have 2 double beds and 2 single beds, bunked. The fully-equipped kitchen and open-air dining terraza are located in an adjacent building.
In addition, a house at Cabinas la Tranquilidad has a double bed and 2 single beds in the bedroom, plus 2 single beds, bunked, in the sunroom. It has hot water shower, 1 1/2 baths, tile flooring, air conditioning, ceiling fans, automatic washer and fully-equipped private kitchen. It is available for daily or weekly rentals, or it can be combined with the cabinas for a total capacity of 20.
For the adventurous there is much to see and do beyond the tranquility of the cabinas. Manuel Antonio National Park is about 40 minutes south. Adjacent to the park is Quepos, an oceanfront city with restaurants, nightlife, a small airport, and a hospital. Jaco, about 40 minutes north, is known for its nightlife and surfing beach. Sport-fishing, mangrove tours, canopy tours, horseback riding, four wheeler tours, rafting, paramotoring, and more are available nearby. Mountains and rain forests are waiting to be explored. Endangered giant sea turtles come ashore to lay their eggs every year. The on-site property manager will be happy to advise and arrange tours for guests.
For the most immediate needs, the bustling town of Parrita is only ten minutes away. Parrita has banks, supermarkets, restaurants, shopping, and a medical clinic. There are taxis, and bus service to Quepos, Jaco, and San Jose. Parrita has not become a tourist town yet, but retains the character and charm of small-town Costa Rica. Credit for this belongs to the wonderful, friendly, and helpful people of the community. They truly live Pura Vida! We look forward to your inquiries and reservation requests. Feel free to email or call with any questions you may have. We will enjoy helping you with your vacation plans.
