Le Peynau amongst the sunflowers
|
|
At Le Peynau we provide self-catering holiday accommodation in two luxury French country cottages or 'gites'. Our guests tell us that it's both the setting and the attention to detail inside the gites that makes our holiday accommodation so special.
Both of our gites have been sympathetically converted from former wine-making buildings and retain much French character and charm. The grounds consist of a 2½ acre estate nestled among vineyards and sunflower fields in the Dordogne region of SW France. Le Peynau is situated just 20km SW of Bergerac and the Dordogne River and only 6 minutes from the medieval market town of Eymet where, along with an excellent range of restaurants and cafe-bars, you will find a choice of three boulangeries for your fresh croissants each morning!
Our larger gite, Le Chai, is superbly converted from the wine-making barn and offers superior accommodation for up to 6 people, with three bedrooms and two shower rooms.
Our other property, as its name suggests, is a beautifully renovated, traditional Pigeonnier. The stunning, 200 year old, Perigordian tower can comfortably accommodate up to five people in 2 bedrooms.
The gites are available to let individually or together and are 150 metres apart, each with its own private terrace. Facilities include swimming pool and games courtyard.
For guests wishing to simply kick back and relax, our 2½ acres of mature grounds are surrounded by tranquil, unspoilt, wine-making countryside where wildlife and particularly birds of prey are in abundance.
- Swimming pool (fully alarmed) with sun-loungers and parasols - Poolside dining terrace - Games court with boules, ping-pong and pool table - Sports field for ball games - Each gite has a private terrace with barbeque - Bed linen and bathroom towels are provided - Guests are requested to bring their own pool towels (or hire for a nominal fee) - Selection of books, DVDs and board games - Local guides and welcome basket
Besides the wonderful wine country, the area is famous for its 13th century 'Bastide' towns with their arcaded central squares and medieval architecture. The closest of these, Eymet, is just 6 minutes away by car. Just 20km from Le Peynau, in Bergerac, you can explore the winding streets and beautifully restored old town with stone and half-timbered houses, and of course see Cyrano's statue.
The local area provides a wealth of interesting activites, all within easy reach...
