 Add to Favorites

Description:
Covering around three square kilometers, the paradise of the Island is part of the Seychelles Archipelago. This virtually tourism-untouched island, with its fine sandy beaches, tropical interior jungle and fruit and vegetable plantations, is the habitat of rare flora and fauna including giant turtles and rare birds.

A very nice place to refresh oneself and recuperate... forests, the water, the coconuts, the fish and birds... the East India Company was fascinated with what he saw when his ship dropped anchor at the shores of the Island in the year 1609. Covering an enormous area of 390,000 square kilometers, these paradise-like islands are located in the middle of the Indian Ocean.

A thousand miles away from the rest of the world: this is how a British governor once described the Seychelles in the 19th century. And Seychelles Island 101, tucked away on the east side of the island group, still gives its guests the feeling that they are worlds away from mass tourism and the daily stress and hectic life at home.

The approximately three square kilometer island offers you seven stunning beaches, crystal clear waters, sunshine, and flora and fauna unparalleled in the world, as well as sixteen exclusive luxurious and comfortable villas.

Privacy in spectacular nature - this is what the 16 villas of the Island offer you. Integrated harmoniously into the natural landscape of the island, the residences are surrounded by unspoiled vegetation and give you the feeling of total seclusion. 14 villas are located directly above cliffs with a breathtaking view of the ocean. Let your self be pampered and enjoy the unsurpassed feeling of pure luxury in the midst of unspoiled nature.

There is also the Rock Spa, for all the pampering and care that you need. The spa is a haven of serenity, perched on a cliff-top plateau overlooking the sea. Entered through a granite canyon, flanked by freshwater pools and cascading waterfalls, the spa celebrates the island's unique surroundings and embraces all elements of nature.
The finest holistic treatments from all over the world use ancient techniques from India, Australia and Polynesia with botanical treatments prepared from local ingredients.
Afterwards, relax with a glass of cool coconut milk, champagne or tea with fresh lemongrass and enjoy the view from the spa's sublime vantage point high above the Indian Ocean.

The Villas
The 16 exclusive villas nestle harmoniously in their surroundings and are arranged to offer privacy. 14 villas are situated in a spectacular position above the fine sandy beaches. For families with children, two villas are located in a sheltered grassy position. Each of the approximately 200sq.m. residences offer a living room, a spacious bedroom and two bathrooms. Hand-carved timbers, Thai silk and Egyptian cotton furnishings create a friendly and gracious atmosphere. Antiques and works of art from Asian countries provide each villa with its own individual character. Integrated glazed walls in various rooms offer fantastic views to the ocean and the opulent vegetation. Guests of the villas on the Island enjoy the amenities of an individual sun terrace with sunroof and private outside day bed and Jacuzzi.

Amenities and Service in Villas
Satellite TV, video unit and stereo player with integrated CD player in each villa, videos, book and music library, telephone, fax modem (available on request), fresh flowers in the villa, night turn-down service and room service, air conditioning and ventilators in each villa, daily news service.

Dining
The Island offers you a Five Star Kitchen and perhaps the finest Creole cuisine in the Seychelles, together with the best wines. Meals are served in the Plantation House or in the main restaurant where great emphasis is placed on personal service. If you wish, you can order your breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea or dinner on one of the beaches or the terrace of your villa.

Complimentary Activities
Non-motorized water sports activities, introductory scuba-diving course (in pool), mountain bikes, fresh water swimming pool, guided tours, through the island's flora and fauna, children's playroom (with nanny available).

Activities with Extra Charge
Scuba diving and courses, boat charter, deep-sea fishing, baby sitter service. The availability of the above can seasonally vary and cannot be guaranteed at all times.

Leisure Pursuits

The Island's seven heavenly beaches are among the most beautiful in the world. Ideal conditions prevail most of the year for swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving and numerous other water sports.

The water sport program is well developed and far-reaching. The Island has its own marina with an entire fleet of sailing craft, from dinghy to yacht, catamaran to motorboat and deep sea fishing vessels. Scuba-diving excursions, under the guidance of experienced PADI dive masters, to the thrilling underwater world of the island's coral reefs belong to one of the most memorable experiences in the world.

A freshwater swimming pool built into a natural cliff is located near the main buildings in the center of the villa complex.

Agreeable shady rambling routes criss-cross the island. It can be explored either along the coast or through the rainforest. Holidaymakers can study exotic fauna and flora during walks, on request with the accompaniment of the island's resident ecologist.

Fully equipped gym on the Island. Guests can use the facilities of a training room; massage can be arranged on request.

A library, an extensive collection of literature in various languages, videos and CDs are available for relaxation and entertainment.

For small children there is a spacious playground at the center of the complex and a playroom in the main building.
Special Features
This Island is one of the only two islands in the world where the giant tortoise runs wild and they can be sighted all over the island. Children will enjoy the fun of riding on their backs, although at tortoise pace! Other wildlife in the area includes rare birds such as the melodious magpie robin, which is found nowhere else in the world. A nearby rock jutting out of the sea is a nesting place for more than 100,000 seabirds where they are protected by the surrounding coral reef.

Check-in and Check-out Times
Checkout time is 12h noon on day of departure. Check-in time is 15.00h on day of arrival. A room for use during the day will be made available, if necessary. Should guests require confirmation of early check-in/late checkout, an extra US$1200 accommodation will be billed.

Climate
The Seychelles islands are under the influence of monsoons. Between November and April a Northwest Passat wind can lead to stormy waters on the northwest and west coasts. Average daily temperatures vary between 29-21 degrees Celsius with humidity exceeding 85%. Between May and October a Southeast Passat exerts a cooling influence. Maximum daily temperatures then reach 26-28 degrees Celsius with lower humidity. During this period the sea on the Southeast and East coasts can be somewhat troubled. Depending on the time of the monsoon, the sea on specific beaches may be rough and thus partially hinder or even prevent bathing and water sports.

Healthcare
Tropical diseases are not prevalent on the Seychelles (status September 2000). Vaccinations are consequently not stipulated. Basic first aid equipment is available on the Island. Adequately equipped hospitals are available at Mahe, Praslin and La Digue. A helicopter service can be organized in emergencies.
