The Casal do Bispo estate is located in the Parque Nacional da Serra da Arrabida, 5 Km away from beautiful beaches and close to Vila Nogueira de Azeitao - a small historic town surrounded by the national park and well known for its vineyards and wine cellars open to the public. Arrabida beach is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Portugal, and boasts a natural bay with calm waters, ideal for swimming and snorkeling. The area is also famous for its food so it won't be difficult to find well priced local restaurants as well as top quality ones. Taste the delights of the region from the traditional cheese, deemed to be some of the best in the country, to the Torta de Azeitao, a much sought after local pastry, and the famous Moscatel wine, a sweet wine served as an aperitif. The local speciality is of course a great variety of fresh fish dishes.
As well as Lisbon, which is only 30km away, Azeitão, Setubal, Palmela and Sesimbra are easily reached, making this self-catering villa an ideal base for unforgettable daily excursions.
The immense 60 hectare Casal do Bispo estate of woodland and landscaped gardens is home to a few high quality houses, two of which are on offer through Sol Domus. Total privacy is guaranteed given that the houses are quite distant from one another.
On the same estate we offer a smaller 2 bedroom house, Casal do Bispo - Annex . The distance between the two houses is about 500m, and when both are rented, groups of up to 14 people can be accommodated in luxury and style.
This luxurious self-catering villa is situated in the national park of Arrabida, established to protect the beautiful landscape and rich variety of wild life, including eagles, wildcats and badgers.
The surrounding mountains are the perfect place to go for a walk, and excursions can be organised with the local nature tour companies.
The villa is nearby to the small delightful historic town of Vila Nogueira de Azeitao, which is known for its vineyards and wine cellars; the town is a perfect place to try out the local cuisine and get shopping.
Sesimbra, a short drive away, is a quaint fishing town, famous for its castle, beach and beautiful sea front. Palmela has a towering very well preserved castle. Setubal has excellent fish restaurants by the sea front and a ferry to the nearby resort of Troia. Boat trips are organized to watch the dolphins living in the Sado estuary.
The local white sandy beaches are as close as 5 Km and Arrabida beach is known to be one of the most beautiful beaches in Portugal. With its calm waters, it's ideal for swimming and snorkeling.
The villa is heated in winter and the beautiful fireplace provides additional comfort and atmosphere.
Modern house with a fantastic contemporary interior, Cabana do Bispo is a stylish villa reached via a long, sheltered and gated drive; it is situated in a green and shady opening with no neighbouring houses visible, and has a well kept private landscaped garden of 2000m2. The furnishings of the house are new and the house is comfortable and welcoming, decorated in neutral colours; the interior enhances the beauty of the woodland that surrounds the house. You can often see rabbits in the lawn and occasionally badgers, foxes and other fauna.
The main entrance to the self-catering villa is via a spacious entrance hall. To the left we find the stylish living area with two large sofas and seating for 10 and a large flat screen TV with international channels: and a fireplace to warm those colder winter nights. The living room opens out onto a sheltered decked terrace with outdoor furniture and lighting, an ideal spot for delicious barbecues and 'al-fresco' meals; further the garden has a large lawn and 9m*5m swimming pool. The dining area is quite large and comfortably sits eight to ten people. The kitchen is unique in that it is separated into three sections: the primary section has the oven, dishwasher, a black granite work surface and breakfast bar. The second are has most of the storage including a very large fridge freezer and microwave. The final section is a laundry room with a tumble dryer and washing machine.
To the right of the hall, there is a spacious twin bedroom one with an en-suite bathroom and direct access to outside decked area and pool. The second twin bedroom is also on the ground floor and also has an en-suite bathroom.
On the first floor we find a large double bedroom with en-suite shower room and separate dressing area. The twin bedroom has an with en-suite bathroom. Both bedrooms open on to a large, shared and well lit balcony that overlooks the garden and swimming pool. For parties of 10 people, two additional single fold-up beds can be provided.
The private landscaped garden is well tended and is about 2000m2. It has a large lawn area around the swimming pool ad surrounded by higher vegetation, and it is very private. The whole estate of 60 hectares and exhudes a wonderful feeling of privacy and peace.
NOTE: Please note there is a disused windmill at the back of the house and this may be a dangerous structure for curious small children! Further, the swimming pool is not fenced.
