Resort: Small, historical village, in the western part of the island 800 m from the sea, on top of a hill, in a secluded position with beautiful view, 4 km from Victoria. In the resort: restaurant. More possibilities for shopping and entertainments 4 km. Access: road Triq Il Gharb - Victoria - Gharb. Access via a good road. Car ferry Cirkewwa (Malta) - Mgarr (Gozo) 13 km. For arrivals by plane: airport Malta International (MLA) 40 km. This typical old Gozitan village lies in the West of Gozo Island and was already inhabited centuries ago, with old houses - still visible in the heart of the village - showing fine examples of decorated stone balconies. Gharb was created a parish in 1679 and a new, baroque church was built between 1699 and 1729. Its elegant facade has been compared with Borromini's S. Agnese in Piazza Navona, Rome. The village square, appearing in many Gozo's postcards, is a fascinating folklore museum housing all sorts of memorabilia retelling the Islands' rural history.
