The Haskell Cottage is a summer “camp” in Maine that is available for weekly rental in the summer months. The house is nestled in the woods and right on the lake, Long Pond, in Belgrade Lakes, Maine, which is central Maine and about an hour’s drive from the Portland airport. The house sleeps 10 comfortably. There are three bedrooms in the main house, one with a full bath. The others have half-baths. Each bedroom in the house can sleep three. There is a bedroom and half-bath in the garage (sleeps one), and a half-bath in the boathouse. There is a communal shower in the house.
The kitchen is large and well-equipped; there is an outdoor grill and picnic table. In addition, the house has a laundry room with washer and dryer (although nothing beats drying clothing on the line!). There is a large dining room and living room with lots of toys, a TV and VCR, and there are wood-burning stoves in the dining room and the front room. Everything is provided except bed linens and towels. The house has a canoe, a dock and a float. Kayaks and boats can be rented nearby.
Although the house feels secluded, the picturesque town of Belgrade Lakes is just a ten-minute walk. Belgrade Lakes has restaurants, a grocery store, an internet café, and a world-class Clive Clark golf course. There are movie theaters in Waterville and Augusta—each about 20 minutes away-- (Waterville has an art movie house as well as the usual movie complexes). Colby College in Waterville has a lovely museum on its campus with an extraordinary Alex Katz collection, donated by the artist.
The rental is $1200 a week in July and August and $800 a week in June and September
